I love this so much, Indi. I had been waiting for you to write about Buddhism :-)
Anatta, of course, is the essential insight that is at the root of any problem solving. But anatta itself is the logical outcome of anicca. So it is hard for novices to grasp the idea of anatta as long as anicca remains ununderstood.
"And in the West ??? " ... Well I think there is no East nor West, and everything that can be said as true about either of "the two" is equally untrue. ... But yes, there are those among us who stick to paradigms of "me, myself, I" and "I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it" - whereas others are able to lift their hearts and minds and souls to a sense of community.
But you will have to write many more stories to get something done on that level! :-)
Thanks, Indi. You made my day!
