The idea that nature needs to be "reserved" far away from human habitation is outmoded and has been invalidated by science as well as by common sense. The only way forward is to "reserve nature" as part of human endeavor. The Singapore model is a good example of how this can be done. We have monitor lizards, wild boar and even pangolins crossing our streets at night. And every morning I am greeted by a hornbill in the tree outside my bedroom window. And we are in the middle of a city with a population density of over 8000 pax per square km. Humanity and nature should join hands. We cannot go our seperate ways.
