Three of my favorite things to come home to in Singapore
(and they might not be what you think)
I have been traveling for some time, which makes coming back home to Singapore all the more pleasant.
Here are three of the things that make life on this island so joyful:
1 — the always surprising colors
There are many places on earth that I could think of when one says colors. India, of course, with its Jaipur pinks and Jodhpur blues. The Majorelle Garden in Marrakech. The splendor of Telč in Moravia, Czech Republic.
Okay. But nothing beats the soft colors of Singapore. Where nothing is left unpainted and every housing estate has its own distinguishing color scheme.
In Singapore, bare concrete structures are extremely rare. What you get is either vertical gardens and walls covered with tropical greenery, or paint. The external walls of all HDB (Housing Development Board) developments are painted with one coat of water-based sealer and two coats of colored algae-resistant emulsion.
