What you are describing, Elisabeth, is a society where everything is so politicized and religionized into fractions and strands of beliefs and disbeliefs and make-beliefs, that all decency and respect for human life has disappeared. Add to this a harrowing lack of education, and if there is education its lack of interest in humanities, a world diverted to the shallowness of social media, and the constant risk of being shot by any randomo carrying firearms, and you get to see what the new generation of American citizens is in for.
I count my blessings to be living in East Asia. We are doing quite well so far, thank you. America has lost all its credibility, when seen from our perspective.
Sending you love and courage and kindness,
FL
